Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has covered wars and natural disasters for nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of people living in these regions. Curry has covered the wars in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist and TV news reporter and anchor who is most famous for her job as a correspondent for the Today program, which was a morning news program aired on the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was renowned for the reporting she did on natural catastrophes and war broken nations. Curry was born in Japan and was educated by a Japanese mother. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. Her mother was working with their father during Japan after World War II. Her father served in the military, so her family had to move around often. They eventually arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. After graduating from University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism in 1978. As a child she had the privilege of being exposed to various different cultures. Her empathetic attitude towards global affairs may be the result of these experiences. She began a career that led to a lucrative job by becoming an intern at broadcasting station KTVL Channel 10 Medford. The first female news anchor at this station, at age 22. In the following years, she worked as anchor and reporter at KGW at Portland Oregon. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became a reporter at KCBS TV four years after having moved into the city. The two Emmy Awards were won during her time with TV station KCBS.
